Wednesday played host to the inaugural games of the Wednesday night indoor football league at Rotherham football centre.
A fantastic turnout lead to an opening fixture round of ten games and the centre buzzing with anticipation as we approached kick off for the first set of games. We were happy to see many new faces who were all really impressed with the centre and had nothing but good words to say. The first round games saw a few standout performances, Norfolk and Chance showed us all they could be early favourites to top the premier league with a resounding 16-4 victory. The early games set a brilliant tempo of competitive but fair games that remained throughout the evening.
Overhearing conversations it was clear that many of the players had got their football kits out of retirement which is what the centre is all about! It was fantastic to hear players say they were ready to build their fitness for the remainder of the league games.
The centre aims to encourage this in a number of ways and Wednesday night showed that the winning teams overall will have shed enough pounds to be worthy of the Akbars meal come final day of season!
